Ingredients (v1, majority favorite)

1 1/2 cup water
7 tbs. sugar
3 tbs. sweetened condensed milk
4 tbs. melted unsalted butter
1 packet active dry yeast

4 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1⁄4 tsp. kosher salt

Ingredients (v2)

1 cup milk
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 tbs. sugar
2 tbs. melted unsalted butter
1 packet active dry yeast

3 cups flour
3/4 tbs. kosher salt

Procedure (same for both versions)

Mix all wet ingredients together, add yeast. Let proof for 10 minutes

Mix all dry ingredients together, combine with wet ingredients. Knead dough for about 6 minutes

Divide into 6 (or the number of colors you want to use) equal peices. Add food coloring to each (gel-based is best), knead until uniform. Form into loafs, either in layers or braided, let rise (only 1 rising) for about 1 hour in the pan.

Bake for 30 minutes @ 375 °

Notes

I tried 2 variations, the first uses sweetenmed condensed milk, the second uses regular milk and an egg yolk.

Typically served as a street food, with ice-cream as an "ice cream sandwich".

v1 was a little more dense and sweeter - v2 was lighter and fluffier. V1 was the majority favorite.
